Salvia nemorosa 'Violet Queen'
Salvia nemorosa 'Violet Queen'
Various cultivars of Salvia nemorosa have become very popular for using in naturalistic planting schemes. The intense colours contrast so well against softly coloured grasses and they are a great asset for their long bloom time which starts in early summer. They thrive in full sun but also in semi shade. Avoid moisture logged areas.
The name Salvia nemorosa translates to woodland sage, nemorosa refers to its natural forest or woodland habitat and salvia come from the latin salvare meaning to save or heal.
